If you have a nagging doubt before you go on a date dont do it! Dont inflict a few hours of pain on yourself, not even if you're bored you will never get those hours back & you could've been doing something much more interesting, such as washing your hair, doing the housework.
I've now learnt after far too many disappointing dates that even if theres an inkling of doubt it's not going to work.
One date ground me down to finally arrange that date after my initial "I'm pretty sure we dont have enough in common" feeling. Well it turns out we had even less in common! Then the dilemma is how long can I stay, how do I let him down gently.
So I have do to my usual buy them a drink back as they have usually bought the 1st & I feel I ought buy one back, but then that means I have to endure this painful date for longer. Why do I do that to myself? Manners I suppose or is it that I'm putting off the inevitable sorry but I dont think you're my cup of tea conversation, which I hasten to add I will always say at the end of a date not via text after but that's a whole other post in itself.
Maybe they are thinking the same but I'm pretty good at reading body language or I should be after all this time. Am I giving them false hope by buying another drink, do they think they are "in"!
I must stop doing it, believe in your gut feeling if its saying we have no chance dont take a chance, you could be missing the date you are meant to be on!

Sell yourself!
Isnt the 1st message supposed to leave a good impression, isnt it a way of selling yourself? I dont mean in that way,! Surely its similar to a cover letter to go with your CV, get them interested enough to offer you an interview or in this case a date.
Having just logged onto one of my accounts, I'm greeted with 3 new messages. First one is from a guy I've been chatting to on & off for a week or so, have music in common, so chatting mainly about that. The other two messages are new. One saying "Hi", that took so much effort I dont think I will bother replying, hey if you cant string a sentence together on the internet well we are doomed from the start,
The other message said & I quote " Hi, you look like a good un"! What the actual f@#k is that supposed to mean, am I meant to reply to that, am I meant to be flattered to hear that I look a good "un"? What even is a good un?
It did however prompt me to read his profile & checkout his photos, but only to see if there were any redeeming qualities to this man as his introduction line is from the murky depths of the " I kinda fancy this gal but not quite enough to make much of an effort" pile.
Even the really cheesy pick up lines are more imaginative than that, just! Guys do really still send "Get your coat you've pulled', & one of the most ridiculous lines " I must be a pirate, coz I'm digging your chest". Oh how I laughed. Well actually it was slightly amusing & of course had to be said in a Captain Jack Sparrow accent.
I'm afraid the "Good un" will be discarded in the uninteresting category & message deleted without reply! Oh I'm harsh I hear you shout, nah just saving myself from more cheese!

Welcome
Welcome one & all, thank you for stopping by!
I've decided after far too many years of dating to share some of my stories, advice & lots of "how not to" date online. A light hearted look at my disastrous dating life, pretty much after every date my friends tell me I should write a book, so here is my version, a blog.
There will be tales of past dates and as I'm still on the dating scene I thought why not keep a diary of dates as & when, that's if i get more dates, the hands of time are clicking on faster as I get older it would seem. I'm pretty sure there's more nuggets of hilarity to come!
